What's for Lunch?

We are planning to make hamburgers, hot dogs and veggie burgers. We are planning to have some gluten free buns available for the non-gluten people. There will also be chips, salad, and cake. Ruth is thinking of making some sort of pasta salad. If you want to bring a side dish, some beer or a desert to share, feel free, but there should be plenty of food. The park allows alcohol but no kegs.

Multnomah Falls

Cool Stops Along the Way - Multnomah Falls
If you are taking the 84 from Portland or Seattle, you can visit Multnomah Falls. If you haven't seen it, it's definitely worth a stop. However, I would recomend leaving early getting there earlier in the Morning because Multnomah Falls can get very busy on weekends. It's also a really good place for a hike. Most of the tourist just drive by and take a picture but you have to get the mist in your face for the real experience.

Getting to the Park

Coming from Portland
From Portland, there are two routes that take you to Beacon Rock State Park. The route that google claims is shorter takes you to the Washington Side of the Columbia and along highway 14. This is a very pretty drive, but at the present it is Not Shorter. There is a good deal of construction happening this way.

The route I recommend
Take highway 84 and Stay on the Oregon side of the river until you reach the Bridge of the Gods at Cascade locks. Bridge of the Gods is a toll bridge and costs 1$ per car. Once you're over the bridge head west on highway 14 until you get to the park.

Beacon Rock State Park $10 parking

Beacon Rock State Park charges $10 for parking.
If you plan to go to other Washington State Parks this year, you can also buy a discovery pass at any place where you could buy a fishing license. The discovery pass lasts the season and costs $30.
